Exploring the versatility of the CB2...

We took the grinder and a welding torch to this bike to make it an off-road touring machine. We routed all of the cables internally and out of the way to avoid rocks, sticks, and debris. Finally, we added a 3rd bottle cage mount for extended time in the saddle without stopping.

As this bike was kind of an experiment, we tried to use as many components from the CB2 complete, so that it would be easy for us to recreate for customers looking for something similar. It uses the same Sram apex 1BY drivetrain as the CB2 I then put on a heavier duty fork and porteur rack for hauling gear on the front.

The 700c commuter wheels have been switched out for a 650b mountain bike wheel set, for strength off-road and we found there was just enough clearance for a 2.1” mountain bike tire. The Maxxis “tread lite” work perfect for this bike.

The main difference from the components of the CB2 are the Soma Woodchipper handle bars. They are designed for off-road touring and are very comfortable for long use in the drops.

This bike is designed to get lost! But it'll help you find your way back in style and comfort.
