Scott Zuk’s, big tire flyer
Scott wanted a bike that would be the perfect companion for his daily commute from North Vancouver to Downtown. He also wanted a weekend warrior that he could take on any gravel adventures or load up for bike-packing trips.
We set to work, to build him the perfect Columbus steel commuter/gravel bike. Scott wanted something that was light, comfortable, stable but also fast. He also wanted a simple single speed, but the frame needed the option to be converted into a geared ride, just in case he decides to go that way in the future. We added all the appropriate mounting options to accomplish this.
The frame utilizes Columbus’s SL and HSS tubing and components form Paragon Machine works. Our toasted powder coat finish is accented by gold vinyl graphics.
The frame is finished with a Whiskey No.9 CX fork and a Chris king headset.
The build kit consists of a cockpit and seatpost from Easton, cranks from Sram, Drop bars with single speed brake levers from TRP. The wheels are a custom set of 650b’s made up of rims by Easton, hubs by Dt swiss and sapim spokes finished with aset of WTB tires.
Scott may have wanted to eventually put gears on this bike but he has been loving the single speed life so much the bike is staying that way!
